In my 3D packaging design course, we were given the open ended assignment of branding and packaging anything we wanted, as long as it came in a cylinder container. Sea Dog Rum was created as a new rum producer that pays respect to the countries in the Caribbean that began rum distilling. Dark rum of Jamaica, gold rum from the island of Barbados and classic white rum coming from Puerto Rico. The branding stays true to the Caribbean islands with an image of the coast of that respected country, and a mission message about the history or the island and that category of rum. Included on the bottle neck is a tag with the Sea Dog silhouette and a recipe for a drink made with that kind of rum, topped with the nation’s flag on the cap.
